Resources

A collection of some of my favourite resources about indigenous people, culture, and language.

Hul’q’umi’num Language Resources

Two women sitting on grass, smiling and laughing, with a colorful painted totem pole behind them. Cover of Songhees book.

Songhees by Songhees Nation

This is my most highly recommended book on Coast Salish, specially Songhees, culture. Written by the Songhees nation. It is a wealth of information that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else!

“Aaaa siem nu siiye'yu, (Respected friends,)

Let us take a journey together. A journey that will help our two roads become one as we link the old hwulmuhw world with the new hwunitum world. A journey that has been happening for over 150 years here on the southern coast of Vancouver island. A journey that you can join.

I am a well known Salish culture and Hul'q'umi'num language student and I have spent years creating free content to help bridge the gap between worlds. I am driven to help educated the broader community about traditional Hul'q'umi'num place names, traditional Salish stories, and traditional Hwulmuhw food systems.

Please join me on this journey, so together we can  help save whats left of the salish world and do what we can to feed our souls and our elders. After all, we're all walking this road together.”
