Hemlock Plant Walks
Welcome to Hemlock Plant Walks
Based in Victoria, BC, I offer guided Coast Salish Indigenous ecosystem tours as well as seminars, workshops, and webinars (both in-person and online). My work is rooted in helping people learn who Indigenous peoples are, what makes Coast Salish cultures unique, and how concepts like reconciliation and land back can be understood in meaningful, practical ways by companies, groups, and organizations.
Whether walking the land to learn about local plants and their cultural significance, or joining a talk to explore Coast Salish history, language, and teachings, my goal is to help communities build deeper respect and stronger relationships with the local Nations. By gaining a deeper understanding of the land, its stories, and its people, we can all take steps toward genuine reconciliation.
I would like to acknowledge that I reside on the unceded shared territory of the Coast Salish people including the Malahat nation, lək̓ʷəŋən nations, W̱SÁNEĆ people, T'Sou-ke Nation, and the Scia'new nation. I thank those people for being the stewards of this land since time immemorial and today. I am so thankful for the opportunity to live, work, and learn upon this amazing land and hope to learn to treat it with the amount of respect our Indigenous peoples have always show it. Hych’ka siem.
